Grades 4-6
Our first snow of the winter, and CREATIVITY
warmed us all up pretty well!
Art sessions began today, at the Baldwin Middle School ART ENRICHMENT Program
Grades 1-3 and Grades 4-6
GRADES 1-3 learned about VISUAL COMMUNICATION and how ART tells a story...The kids created a full-color illustration of WHAT THEY FELT TODAY when they woke up, saw snow, and knew they were starting their day coming to a new art class....they expressed what was in their minds and hearts! They also learned about GEOMETRIC SHAPES and created simple things they know of with simple geometric shapes, drawing techniques, and used colored pencils and soft chalk pastels to blend colors. Also, learned about ABSTRACT ART, and REPRESENTATIONAL ART!
Kids also are learning to 'look at details' of what's around them, and what details are in a picture that is revealing?

Baldwin Kids Art Enrichment Class
Our last Baldwin Kids Art Enrichment class. Students did illustrative story-telling pictures, and sat on 'the chair' while allowing other students to draw a 1-minute sketch of them on the chair. Later, the students made books of all the drawings done of themselves by other students. Students discussed what the pictures drawn were really telling. Fun was had learning to illustrate, and also do a 1-minute sketch to capture 'an image'. Very cool!

ALSO learning HOW TO SHADE, SHADOW and RENDER geometric shapes (to appear 3-dimensional) on separate drawing paper, cutting out and learning balance & composition of placement.
A totally amazing exploration!

Grades 1-3 Learned about 'pointillism', and used paints-and different size brushes, drawing, then painting objects- contouring ad filling in with only 'DOTS' or POINTS of all different sizes. Grades 4-6 learned about PERSPECTIVE and DIMENSION- learning 2-D and 3-D, shadows and depth of basic geometric shapes. They also painted with acrylics, giving their shapes dimension.
Baldwin Kids Art Class
the Saturday-kids demonstrated some EXCELLENT art work! Below are some of the 1st thru 6th graders creations. The assignment was to look at the sky, think of different colors and clouds, and what skies can look like, Then they painted (with watercolors) by mixing different colors to make a vivid sky background. Then they drew self portraits - looking at a mirror, and studying themselves and their character- they created themselves using pencil (graphite and colored-pencil)- then cut the image of themselves out, and gluing it on to the sky painting- and also using brilliant colored paper to cout out shapes they could place themselves on in the picture!
Some of the Baldwin Kids in Their Fall Art Class
On September 24, the Saturday-kids art class started. Wow, what a great group of kids in both classes!
9am-10:15am 1st-3rd graders, 10:30-11:45 4th-6th graders. Below are some of the 1st,2nd & 3rd graders displaying their creations with basic geometric shapes. These were created in October 15th class. Each kid had 15 minutes to create something- so the assignment kept them thinking fast!
